Squeaky sound coming from driver front wheel (Rover 25, 02 )?

It makes a whistling and squeaky noise when breaking and also sometimes when driving and especially when turning the wheel. Breaks?? and idea of how much haha... in my MOT they did mention something that the breaks were too low or sumut. ( I don't know the proper lingo haha and nothing about cars :) )
