Could this really be carpal tunnel syndrome?

I went to my Dr and told him that i've been having trouble in my hand lately. I told him that my symptoms were pain in my wrist/some numbness and tingling in my thumb,index,middle,some of ring. He said to me that he believes it is. The thing that's bothering me about this is the fact that my ring/pinkie seems to be affected as well. I get pain in my knuckles,especially my ring finger knuckle, sometimes i feel it in my forearm/elbow. My left hand is feeling its effects to a lesser degree.In my right hand, i sometimes feel a lesser grip strength, sometimes i don't. And the bad thing is motrin doesnt seem to be helping. I have no weakness in my hands or arms. I keep looking things up on the internet and im paranoid it might be ALS, but i was told by my Dr it wasnt. I wake up in the morning and my right hand feels somewhat stiff near the joints, same with wrist, and also elbows. Im wondering if someone else out there ever had what im going through and what they did to fix it.
